Holcim Award

TailorCrete

The TailorCrete research team at the Professorship for Architecture and Digital Fabrication, ETH Zurich received a Holcim Award for sustainable construction for the development of a new type of re-useable free form concrete formwork. The formwork is based on an industrial wax blend. The material can be formed into formwork elements through an adjustable mold or other methods. After solidification the elements are brought on site and get cast in concrete. After decasting the formwork elements can be reused by melting them. This research is part of the larger European Union research project TailorCrete that is supported by the Framework Program 7.
