Outdoor Furniture
The outdoor furniture for the urban spaces of Science City was designed by students during a four weeks workshop. Afterwards the furniture was fabricated at the professorship for Architecture and Digital Fabrication. Depending on the orientation the furniture works as a communicative seating area, a bench or a private armchair. By rolling the furniture over the campus it can be freely arranged into a multitude of different configurations. Thus the users playfully engage the design of their environment.
The project was initiated and developed in the context of the elective course program of the Professorship for Architecture and Digital Fabrication at ETH Zurich: Prof. Gramazio, Prof. Kohler, Silvan Oesterle, Ralph Bärtschi, Michael Knauss, Michael Lyrenmann, Campus masterplan: KCAP Ute Schneider
